2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Cimarossa Vineyard

Howell Mountain

The Cimarossa Vineyard is located within the Howell Mountain appellation of Napa Valley’s Vaca range at an elevation of 2100 feet. We produced 218 cases of 2003 Cabernet from this vineyard. The shallow soils and relatively cool growing conditions at this elevation resulted in a highly concentrated wine that is vibrant and youthful. The wine spent 32 months in French oak and nearly two years of bottle aging prior to release.

Flavors of blackberry, currant and plum are complemented by hints of anise and black walnuts. The bright mountain fruit and abundant tannins suggest a wine worthy of cellaring several years more should you choose. We look forward to watching this wine mature and develop wrinkles of complexity while maintaining the soul and personality of the vineyard from which it originated.
